First International Conference on Informal Work, Health Safety and Wellbeing2-4 November, 2026in Santiago de Cali, Colombia
This conference is being hosted by the University of Valle, in Cali, Colombia. It is organised under the auspices of the GCIW in close collaboration with the international professional organisations represented in the GCIW and other partners. Presentations will be given by experts in occupational health and safety and other organisations concerned with the wellbeing of workers. There will be workshops and panels with representatives and workers from various informal work areas, mainly in Latin America.
The Conference languages will be English and Spanish, with translation between these languages provided.
The call for presentations will be sent out in the first quarter of 2026. If you are interested in participation please go to the conference website and register your interest.
Hybrid Symposium on Design Thinking and Informal Sectors held 13 December, 2025
A One-Day Symposium (hybrid) on Design Thinking and Informal Sectors, was held in Kolkata, India, on 13th December 2025. This event was jointly organized with the Indian Society of Ergonomics, ICOH Scientific Committee on Small Scale Enterprises and Informal Sector, and the IEA Technical Committee on Informal Work. In total 167 people participated (32 in-person) for the eight-hour presentation day. A recording of the Symposium presentations is available on YouTube.
